How do you journal with astrology?
Use the reading as a question, not an answer. Pick one prompt, write one line about what actually happened today, and date it. Keep what you did and how it went as separate lines. After a few weeks, read the lines back: your record, not the reading, shows what keeps coming up and what helps. The twelve prompts below are grouped by what they come from.
How to use a prompt
One line is enough. Write it the same day, in your own words. If a reading does not fit your day, write that too; a “doesn’t fit” is useful data about you, not a failure of the prompt.
If you try a small practice, record the action and the outcome separately: “Paused before answering the email” and “The reply was calmer than I expected.” A meta-analysis of goal monitoring found that tracking progress improved goal attainment on average, more so when progress was written down. That is evidence about monitoring in general, not about AstraFlow.
Prompts for the Moon: your day-to-day rhythm
“What did I need today that I did not ask for?”
“When did I feel most like myself today, and what was I doing?”
“What did I take in today that I am still carrying tonight?”
Prompts for a longer chapter
“What has this season been asking of me, in one sentence?”
“What did I start this month that I want to keep?”
“What am I ready to stop carrying?”
Prompts for the slow planets
“Where in my life is something moving quickly and unevenly right now?”
“What structure would make this week lighter?”
“Where am I reaching for more, and what does that cost?”
Prompts for someone close
“When did we understand each other easily this week?”
“What do I want them to know that I have not said?”
“What does each of us bring that the other does not?”
Questions about this guide.
Do I need my birth chart to use these prompts?
No. They work on their own. In the AstraFlow app, the prompts are tied to your own Moon, chapter and slow-planet readings, and your lines build into a record you can look back on.
Is this the same as therapy or shadow work?
No. It is a reflective practice for noticing your own patterns. It is not therapy, diagnosis or treatment. If you are struggling, please talk to a professional you trust.
